Stage Three, Module Two

Within my final module, I chose to further the processes and conceptual ideas that I had adopted within my last selection of work. Wishing to portray an idea of the human individual within a camera-less photograph, I began by making full body photograms. Choosing to give the imagery more ‘depth’, I made abstract photograms of ink and layered them with the full body images. I hoped these images would portray an essence of ‘floating’, and provide the viewer with an almost ‘out of body experience’. Reading into David Abram’s ‘The spell of the sensuous’ truly inspired me, and I went on to research into shamanism. My research told me that the imagery I had created was a representation of the connection between the organic, animate life world and the human body... almost a restoration of the oneness that we share with nature.
